E ARTHHOUSE

by Selina Liew

Sparked by a passion in design and branding, Selina started an apparel shop that sold handmade and reworked pieces with tie-dye or embroidery. With the support and assurance of Pastor Charmaine and leaders, she was able to envision herself doing this and serve in church at the same time.

What made you decide to start
E ARTHHOUSE?

“I felt that I needed to step out of my comfort zone and not just do something I love,
but to gain influence and use it to give back to the world.”

How has being in The Evolution helped you along the way?

The Evolution has been a huge part of my life since I was 14. It’s where I learnt everything, like how to live life, manage and administrate. Growing up in church has given me a tremendous amount of tools like learning how to manage my time, grow in capacity and strive for excellence. “

Do you enjoy doing this?

“Yes! But I’m just starting out so there’s still a lot to learn. And I have yet to try many new things. But what I love most is when people love the products that they’ve bought. I also love the process of perfecting my apparel and growing the brand identity.”

What will you say to other youth who are also thinking of going into entrepreneurship?

“I would say not to try and be someone else. Don’t try to follow a trend or set up a shop because it is something everyone is doing. Instead, sell things that you are genuinely passionate about.”
