Ryan Ng

Discovering his purpose through his church family

At the time of his N levels, Ryan was beginning to worry about his future as he wasn’t too sure what he wanted to do with his life. Ryan came from a challenging background, and like most youth his age, his struggle was figuring out his identity and strengths. But Pastor Charmaine and his leaders like Karis, Raymond and Teo Liang walked alongside him. From teaching him at 11 years old how to budget his money, to parenting him through secondary school to make studies a priority.

They gave him opportunities to learn skills such as stage lighting design, photography and sound engineering. As he served in the Sound Ministry, Ryan learned that it’s not just about making music technically great in church, but that good sound can also transform the way people connect to God.

The desire to create a better experience for his church family gave Ryan purpose and he decided to enrol in Electrical Engineering in Light and Sound.

Mixing skills with great attitude

Ryan has grown from strength to strength since then. When an external team rented the church premises, Ryan impressed a well-regarded sound engineer in the industry with his willing attitude and aptitude for sound, so much so he decided to share his knowledge and offered to train our entire sound team. Ryan is now the leader-in-training of our Sound Ministry and investing in other youth like him.
